Bitmap (DIB) Specification RRS feed

  • Question

  • Could you point me to the Windows Device-Independent Bitmap specification?

I read on Wikipedia that the Bitmap specification is a part of the Windows Metafile Format specification, however I can't find a full and cohesive specification.

I'm interested in implementing a bitmap encoder in C++ for the Linux platforms. I'm interested in implementing an encoder to encode Bitmaps with a BITMAPV5HEADER.

    Many Thanks,

    Duncan

  • Hi Duncan,

Thank you for contacting the Microsoft Open Protocols forum.   For the Bitmap structures, these are indeed documented in the MS-EMF specification.

Here is the link that we can offer for the structure itself in MS-EMF:

    Thank you,
