Receiving error 403 Forbidden using speech REST API RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am attempting to use the Microsoft Project Oxford speech to text service via the REST API and curl. I am currently getting an error of 403 Forbidden when I make the request. Looking through the various example codes I see that I need to provide either a primary or secondary key (which I have) in those examples, however I do not see how to specify this value in the REST API.

    Does someone have an updated example, ideally using CURL, of how to make a request to the speech to text service?

    Alternatively how do you specify the key in the REST API?

    Thanks,

    Lloyd

  • Hi LIoyd,

    The First Step:

    Please use the Primary Key and Secondary Key to get the Access Token, after you get the access token successful.

    Then the Second Step:

    Please add Token value in your https request header part like below:

    "Authorization: Bearer ".$access_token."\r\n"

    Some useful tips:

    Access Token:

    AccessTokenUri : https://oxford-speech.cloudapp.net:443/token/issueToken

    STT Regonition:

    sttServiceUri : https://speech.platform.bing.com/recognize/query

    Good Luck & Enjoy it!

  • I have found to get an access token that it isn't the Primary Key and Secondary Key, but;
    client_id= "your client ID"
    client_secret= "your primary key"

    That's what worked for me.

    This works. Very helpful, thanks. This doesn't appear to be in any documentation of the REST API (https://www.projectoxford.ai/doc) and given that Oxford APIs are very similar to Bing APIs, getting the authorization correct is particularly confusing.
