  • Question

  • I enabled EFS on SQL Server FileStream Folders. Below are the specifications:

    Windows Server 2012 R2 Standard SQL Server 2014 SP2

    FileStream folder sizes :

    1. Three Databases FS Folders with 800 Gigabytes. When enabled first time , it completed in 9 Hours .
    2. When I removed Databases (Not decrypted , removed existing Databases from Availability Group) and restored the Databases again and re-tried enabling EFS again on above 800 GB of FS Data folders , it completed in 18 Hours.

What could be the reason for such huge timing differences.

Does EFS has anything to do with Network delays ? or it is only Disk IO that matters when it comes to EFS on Folders with File Stream any other huge sized folders .

    Kindly help me understand .

    Regards

    Best Regards,SQLBoy
