  • Question

  • I have found that in the certification of hardware there is a new parameter call "Retpoline".

Does any body what that's it means?

I have attached a image capture

  • "Retpoline" sounds like the technic to try resolve the CPU's security vulnerability like Spectre. You can see from the Wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectre_(security_vulnerability)

On Linux, you'll need to rebuild the kernel module on the target machine, if I'm not wrong about it. Don't know how that would apply to Windows, but I never really looked into it.

Hope Microsoft can come up with White Paper to explain the detail.
