Exchange 2010 - 1 domain controller and 2 exchange servers RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi ,

I have 2 exchange servers on the same domain and all outbound mail is only routing through the 1 exchange server which means going through one firewall.

Is it possible to split the outbound mail traffic over both exchange servers if so, how is this done?

I have many domains so if possible I can lock it down for certain domains or even over a subnet.

Quite new to exchange so any help on this step  up would be great.

  • Sure you can. Take a look at your send connector. Find the place where Exchange server 1 appears and add server 2 into that field.

  • Under the source server I have both servers there but still not relaying through one of the servers.

    Any other suggestions?

  • Are all your mailboxes hosted on server 1?

  • Hi,

They are hosted on different databases which are across both servers.

  • In this case there might be environmental issue prevent email sending from server 2. You may like to enable the protocol log on the send connector. The log will give you more details on the communication between server 2 and Internet.
