How to connect Exchange server and Domino 9? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Dear all

We have 3 mail servers, first one is exchange 2003,  second one is Exchange 2010 and the new server that is Domino 9. The two Exchange servers are installed in the same forest but as we know Domino does not support forest. Everything works and installed properly. All mail servers can send email without any problem but we have a problem in receiving emails. The first server that is receiving email is Exchange 2003 and if it will not find the mail address then it will pass the email to Exchange 2010. Now we want to setup Domino 9 in such a way that in Exchange 2010 will pass the email to Domino 9, if it cannot find the email address.

The problem is Exchange 2010 always return and error and it does not pass the email to Domino server. We tested all the servers and they can ping one another, also the Send Connector created properly in Exchange servers but still Domino 9 doesn’t receive any email and Exchange servers will through an error.

Can anybody help me? Is there any specific setting that I have to set?

    Thank you so much

  • Hi,
You need to change the Accepted Domain from "Authoritative" to "InternalRelay"

Configure Exchange 2010 to Route Messages for a Shared Address Space

..and since you also have Exchange 2003 in your ORG, you must also make changes to the Recipient Policy.

  • Hi

Thank you so much for your reply. Anyway I tried to change from "Authoritative" to "InternalRelay" in Exchange 2010 but after that nobody was able to send email to Exchange 2010 and Exchange 2003. But when I set it back to "Authoritative" they were able to receive emails.

I followed steps in this link:

Also about the Exchange 2003, I cannot make any changes in it. I think because of the forest it does not allow me to make any changes. The error is that I need to use newer version of System Manager! But if I make any change in Ex 2010 it will do same changes in Ex 2003.

Sadly I was not the one who install and setup the Exchange servers and the person who installed them is not accessible. And I don't know how he/she setup two Exchange servers.

    Again thank you
