I need InfoPath 2010 form to open in the Web Browser but it's opening up in InfoPath Filler. What do I need to do? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a form created in InfoPath that has been uploaded to a Forms Library in SharePoint 2010. I need it to open it up in the Web Browser but it's opening up in InfoPath Filler. What do I need to do to have this form open up in the browser?

Here's what I'm needing to accomplish:

I need a Document or Forms library that contains several differenct forms created in InfoPath 2010 that will be used by different managers for HR purposes. When the Manager needs to fill out a form(each form serves a differen purpose) he/she can go to this library, open the form, fill it out in the web browser then print it for the employee or manager to sign.

Can someone help me figure out what I need to do to make this happen?

Thank you for your time, T

  • When you started designing the form, you probably selected Blank (InfoPath Filler Only) form template. This is not a big problem though.

Just open up the form template and do a "Save As" on the form. Just make sure, when you save the form to the drive, select the "InfoPath Web Browser Form Template" option in the file type. After that you can publish the newy saved template to the required Library. You won't be able to open up the previously submitted frms, so better publish it to a new library. The new form should open up in a browser from now-on.

    Hope it helps.

  • Also you'd want to make sure that your form does not contain any Controls that are disabled in the Web Browser compatible firm. Also it is advisable to use IP Filler Forms because of Certain reasons (Given all the People filling the forms have IP Filler 2010). Go to this link to read about this:
