Installing .NET4.0 WCF application on IIS 6 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Apologies if this is on the wrong forum but I think it is a .NET 4.0 issue, it only occured when I upgraded to visual studio 2010 which was running 4.0 by default.

I am having problems with a web setup file installing a .NET 4.0 WCF application to IIS 6.

    I am getting the message:
"could not open key Software\Microsoft\ASP.NET\4.0.30319.0" before the installation cancels.

On further investigation I have found that the registry key "4.0.30319.0" doesn't exist.
I have installed teh relevent .NET 4.0 client

Should this have been created with the .NET 4.0 upgrade?

Has anyone come across this problem before?

    thanks in advance

    Shane

  • Thanks Karel, the solution in the end was to discard the version of the .NET framework offered by the .msi install file and manually download the full version from microsoft.

This version included the required registry key.

The key is still 4.0.30319.0 however it seems to be working fine.

  • Which version of .NET Framework do you have? The official .NET 4 RTM version is 4.0.30319.1.

This seems to be IIS issue - please ask on http://forums.iis.net.
