No audio playback when embedding mpg files in CEWP RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've used a piece of code to play back a WMV file in a web page in SharePoint - but for some bizzare reason, it doesn't playback to audio.

    When playing the source file (which is in a doc library), my WMP loads the movie fine and I am able to see and hear the presentation.

    Here is the code:

    <div align=center>
    <object id="MediaPlayer1" height=400 width=600 classid="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95">
    <param name="FileName" value="filename.mpg">
    <param name="AutoStart" value="0">
    <param name="ShowStatusBar" value="True">
    <embed type="application/x-mplayer2" pluginspage = "http://www.microsoft.com/Windows/MediaPlayer/"showstatusbar=true>
    </embed>
    </object>
    </div>

    Running WSS 3.0  - Can anyone assist?

  • Hi,

    embedding the the code in content editor web part source window should work but anyways.

    Make sure that you are adding video URL in the embed code correctly.

    Also take look at the URL http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/forums/en-US/sharepointdevelopment/thread/dfc8ee18-2b72-425b-b463-1f3b680279bf

    Hope this helps for you.

  • Hi,

    can you please tell what where exactly you have added this embed script?

    You can also take help from <embed> tag in HTML

    Here is article which shows about the using embed tag to play videos in SharePoint.

    http://www.sharepointkings.com/2010/01/how-to-embed-video-in-sharepoint.html

    You can use the content editor web part to put this embed code.

    hope this helps you

  • Hello Zoeb S - Unfortunately this code did not work. I confirmed that the video file works fine if I access it directly from the SharePoint folder.

  • Hello Bhushan,

    I am using the Content Editor WebPart and the article is of no help to me as there is no audio when using the embed code - it defaults to Quick Time which doesn't play the video at all.

    I will try creating a page in SP Designer instead to see if I can get anywhere.
