Kiosk Mode Problem on WinCE600 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all,

I've been using a simple kiosk mode application written in C# instead of explorer.exe. I've noticed some of Windows CE and BSP driver wait to SH_SHELL ready. Must a Windows Embedded CE 6.0 kiosk application register SHELL API and signal the event SYSTEM/ShellAPIReady?

Thanks a lot for your helps and clarifications,

    Yasemin

  • If your system is dependent on the shell api, then yes.

  • I've removed the dependencies of SH_SHELL from our custom drivers. I've used the event signal "SYSTEM/GweApiSetReady" instead of SH_SHELL (WaitForApiReady). But I've noticed the following public WinCE projects waits to SH_SHELL API too.

    PUBLIC\CELLCORE\SIMTKIT

    PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETSAMP\CONNMC

    PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETSAMP\ETHMAN

    PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETSAMP\NDISPWR

    PUBLIC\COMMON\OAK\DRIVERS\NETSAMP\RNAAPP

    PUBLIC\DATASYNC\OAK\MTP\WINCE\SRC\MTPTRANSPORTS\USBFNPROXY

    PUBLIC\WCESHELLFE\OAK\LANG\IME\CIMEUI

    PUBLIC\WCESHELLFE\OAK\LANG\IME\KIMEUI

Dou you mind if I don't set SHELL API in the kiosk application because of these public projects?

  • The question is does your boss/customer/user mind?

If your system uses any of those, then you need to.
