Access share folders on a mount drive RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

Here's what i have to do, i need to access some folders on a Unix server (for test i'm trying to access from XP but the deployment would be in a Windows Server 2003), see if there are new folders and files, gather some information and insert it in a SQL Server 2005 database.

Right now i have a service that runs a FileSystemWatcher to monitor a folder for new added objects. It works perfectly when monitoring a folder located in "C:\", but when i try to access the share folders in the Unix server i get the "The directory name \\server\sharefolder is invalid." error.

I set the service account property to "Network Service" but it didn't made a difference. I know it can be done because of other posts i have read, but i don't understand very well how to make it work.

If someone can help me to make this work or maybe with another approach i would really appreciate it.

    Thanks!
