Platform builder in Wince 2013 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have purchased the Windows embedded compact 2013 Development Kit. that include VS2013 Pro and Wince 2013 CDs

I am having an issue with creating the new OS with Visual Studio 2013.

I have installed all the things as suggested by installing manuals. I am not able to get the option for the creating new OS.

    As platform builder is installed

There is no option in VS 2013 for creating new OS  Like In the New Project dialog box, expand Templates, and then select Platform Builder>OS Design

    PLease help me

    Thanks Bipul Pandey

  • Hi Bipul,

When you go to Add Remove programs, is Compact 2013 listed there?  If so, you can try a repair.  Also What platforms did you choose to install, both ARM & X86?

    My working install shows:

    Add remove dialog

  • Windows Embedded Compact 2013
    1. Visual Studio 2012/2013/2015
    2. Visual Studio 2012/2013/2015 updates
    3. Application Builder for Visual Studio 2012/2013/2015
    4. Windows Embedded Compact 2013
    5. Updates for WEC2013*

    * The last step “Updates for WEC2013” is handled via WEDU**. You will need to go to the “Programs and Features” on your development machine and locate “Windows Embedded Compact”. If you want to install WEC2013 for use inside Visual Studio 2015 you need to start the installation at the February 2017 update (Wave3 update). The February 2017 Wave3 update for WEC2013 is a full installation, so none of the older updates are required.

** The WEDU update process is notoriously flaky. If you encounter problems the best way to resolve this is to talk to your Microsoft Distributor about getting access to Device Partner Central (formerly know as MyOEM).

PS. Much better value for money would've been to purchase an MSDN subscription. Then you would've gotten all tools you needed, including VS2015, and much much more, for only a couple of bucks more...

    Good luck,
