Consuming WCF Data Service from Windows Phone RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey,

After installing the client library required to support WCF Data Services in Windows Phone 7 Series, and even though I can download  the contents of the service in a web browser on the device, I get an HttpException when trying to retreive some data from the service. Is there anything else required to get this working?

  • Nope. This should just work.

What exception are you seeing? Are you running this in an emulator? If yes, can you install Fiddler on that machine, and make sure the service is returning the correct data.

  • Fiddler is a tool for tracing and inspecting HTTP trafic from and to your machine. It can be really helpful debugging issues with WCF Data Services as it shows exactly what requests the client is making and what responses are comming back. You can get it at www.fiddler2.com.

But it's just one example, you can use any network tracing tool for similar purposes.
