Support for SQL Server 2012 and its AlwaysOn technologies in the BizTalk 2010 WCF-SQL adapter RRS feed

  • Question

  • The current platform is using BizTalk 2010 and SQL Server 2008 R2. We are considerering to migrate some custom databases to SQL Server 2012 to take advantage of AlwaysOn Availability Groups or AlwaysOn Failover Clustering. The main reason for using AlwaysOn Failover Clustering in SQL Server 2012 is the possibility to use separate subnets.

Does the WCF-SQL adapter in the BizTalk Adapter Pack 2010 support SQL Server 2012 and its AlwaysOn technologies : Availability Groups and AlwaysOn Failover Cluster? The only place in the documention where I could find any mention of which SQL versions the adapter supports was "New Features in BizTalk Adapter for SQL Server", http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dd788482.aspx

I realize that SQL Server 2012 came after BizTalk 2010, and therefore this scenario could not be tested when BizTalk 2010 was built, but the scenario might not need any code change, just testing, or a hotfix.

I assume that using the WCF-SQL adapter with SQL 2012 Availability Groups  requires applying "Update 4.0.2 for Microsoft .NET Framework 4", http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2544514.
