Building SharePoint add-in always requires retraction on Visual Studio leading to long build times RRS feed

  • Question

  • This retraction added in with the installation times are adding up to long periods of time waiting every time I change some code and rebuild the solution.

Is there a way to speed up the build process and not have to always uninstall the whole app and reinstalling it back to SharePoint?

  • Be cool. It takes time for deploying content depend of your list and files. For me it takes minimum 3 to 5 for deploying SharePoint hosted app.

If it is simple change, do it directly from browser itself. you can find JS files in browser using F12 and once you satisfy result, then you can update into Visual studio. This will save some sort of time.

  • Hi Lalith

The first issue is still exists when I try to deploy my Provider Hosted App using visual studio it stuck on  "SharePoint is installing app".  I take over retraction message by doing check option "Auto retract after debugging ".

  • Hi Journey,

Please check 'SPFastDeploy'. It is an Extension for Visual Studio and can be installed from Visual Studio -> Tools -> Extensions and Updates. select "online" and search for 'SPFastDeploy'. once it is installed you simply save any e.g. *.html *.aspx *.js in visual studio when the project is running and the Extension sends the changes to the app in SharePoint.
