Crawl search not working for searching contents in pdf files

Question
-
Hi,
For searching contents in the pdf file, In 'Serach Service Application', I have added pdf as a new file type. Then I reset the IIS. After that I performed the full crawl on Local Sharepoint sites. But I am not able to search the content in the pdf file, which is uploaded earlier.
Also, is it necessary to have installed Adobe Reader on my Sharepoint server (where Sharepoint is installed)?
Thanks in Advance....

Hi Sushant11,
To index pdf files, you need a "PDF I-Filter". There are multiple 3rd party tools available, such as Adobe PDF I-Filter and Fox-it I-Filter.
Adobe: http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4025
Fox-IT: http://www.foxitsoftware.com/products/ifilter/
Fox-IT is a paid product but is much faster than the Adobe PDF I-Filter.

Hi Nico,
Thanks for replying. As link sent by you, I have installed 'Adobe PDF iFilter', and have done some settings to make it work.
Lasly I needed to restart the service 'Sharepoint Foundation Search'. But I am getting the error as 'WSS_Search_<server name> on <server name> contains user-defined schema. Databases must be empty before they can be used. Delete all of the tables, stored procedures and other objects or use a different database.'
I searched about it a lot, but couldn't get the exact solution.
