Merge Two Tables From Two Different Servers RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am new to PowerPivot, with that said, I am trying to merge two tables queired from two different surveys.  I have both tables in the same PowerPivot window in different tabs.  I created a relationship but i  need to merge the tables together.  I am able to merge in crystal but am trying out excel now.

SideNote:  I do not have the ribbon in my powerpivot window, how do I get it.

  • On your sidenote:

Im guessing you have Windows XP? The Ribbon only shows for Windows Vista upward i think. This confused me at the start too.

  • You have two things going on here:

    1.  PowerPivot is only supported with Excel 2010.  If you don't have the ribbon bar that could be why.   If you are running Excel 2010 and PowerPivot tab is not appearing I suggest you uninstal and reinstall.

    2.  To merge two tables I did a blog post on merging two tables with different layouts but you can use the adivce if the layouts are the same as well.  You can find it here:  http://alanwhitehouse.wordpress.com/2011/03/24/merging-tables-with-different-columns-and-layouts-in-powerpivot/
