SQL Server 2012 Migration to Windows Server 2012 R2

Question
-
We currently are running SQL Server 2012 SP2 CU1 on Windows Server 2008 R2 SP1, and looking to change to Windows Server 2012 R2, not sure at this point if we will be running Full Windows Server 2012 R2 or Core.
Is there any recommendations on moving SQL Server 2012 to Windows Server 2012/R2?

Hello,
This means you have to perform a side-by-side migration. You can either choose backup/restore or detach/attach method.
You can use the following article to transfer logins between instances and avoid orphan records.
https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/918992
SQL Server 2012 is fully compatible with Windows Server 2012. No service pack/update required to make SQL 2012 compatible.
Hope this helps.

It is supported to upgrade a SQL Server to a new version Windows. And with Windows Server 2012 R2, you can remove the UI after install.

Thanks for the reply, but I guess you didn't read the question fully.
I was asking about migrating SQL Server 2012 running on Windows Server 2008 R2 to SQL Server 2012 running on Windows Server 2012.
