Remote Shell Tool - Unhandled Exception RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using Visual Studio 2008, and Microsoft Remote Framework Tools - 1.10

    When I try to use Performance Monitor I get the exception below. Yet with Remote Tools -> System Information I have no issues?

    Any suggestions?

    Thanks

    ************** JIT Debugging **************
    To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this
    application or computer (machine.config) must have the
    jitDebugging value set in the system.windows.forms section.
    The application must also be compiled with debugging
    enabled.

    For example:

    <configuration>
        <system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
    </configuration>

    When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
    will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
    rather than be handled by this dialog box.

  • I know you've probably moved on or found a solution and forgot you posted, but for those of us that still have this problem, here's what I know, so far.

    Our IT has given us a regular user account and an admin account. If I use my regular user to try to launch the Performance Monitor Tool, I see the exception/crash. If I run Visual Studio as an Admin, I can run the Performance Monitor Tool and it works.

    I've tried making my regular user part of the administrator group, but that doesn't seem to work.

    So my fix, for now, is to run as admin when I want to use the Performance Tool.,  The registry tool works just fine, BTW.
