Moving BLOBs RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've found a useful script at Windows Azure PowerShell Copy Blob Script that explains how to copy a script from one place to another (it uses Start-AzureStorageBlobCopy) however I don't want to copy a BLOB, I want to move it.

There is no Start-AzureStorageBlobMove cmdlet so I'm pondering the best way to accomplish this. Any ideas?

    Thanks
    Jamie

  • Hi,

At currently we could use copy-then-delete to do this, you could submit this as a new feature at azure feedback forum: http://feedback.azure.com/forums/34192--general-feedback, sorry for any inconvenience.

  • Hmm, it appears copy-then-delete is the only way: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/azure/en-US/04c415fb-cc1a-4270-986b-03a68b05aa81/renaming-files-in-blobs-storage?forum=windowsazuredata

    Disappointed there's no Move operation.

  • Hey

    The API doesn't support MOVE.

I think you are going to have to do this the "dumb" way (GET/PUT/DELETE)
