How to link a specific workflow to a custom button? RRS feed

  • I want to add a custom button in the DispForm to run a specific workflow which as same as if you click "Workflow" button from the FormToolBar, then select specific workflow, then click "Start" button.


    Any advise?

  • Ok this is not a great solutions, but might work for you.
    I began to understand that for sharepoint one needs to think in workarounds
    You can edit any page (on the right a bit on top edit page) import a webpart called ( content editor web part )
    In it you cannt create buttons but you can import images, then add the url to the image that looks like a button..

    What is nice about this the content editor webpart also allows for plain text so you can explain on the page where the button is for.
    Notice also on this part there is a html editor icon ( not all html code is accepted (no buttons etc). but a lot is accepted tables etc..))

    This is what i did today for about the same problem like you have, but i'm no expert.

  • I want created a link to start a workflow, what should i put at 'ID='?

    both {itemid} , {itemid:id} are failed.

  • I have a hyperlink at DispForm now. It will load below page.

    But i still need to click "Start" Button to run the workflow, any idea can i run the workflow directly after click the hyperlink?

  • There are 2 controls in SP Designer: Action Button an Action hyperlink. If you choose custom actions you will be able to initiate a workflow.
