WCF data services client for Win 8 RTM Metro style apps RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using VS 2012 Premium RTM with Win 8 RTM, had a project using WCF Data Services client with Release Preview, but now I cannot seem to find the required client DLL files. Are they no longer available, or how do I get them back (cannot add service reference either). Do I need Ultimate?

  • Hi,

VS 2012 Pro/Premium/Ultimate RC shipped with the WCF Data Services Client for Windows Store Apps (then called Metro). However, VS 2012 RTM does not include these DLLs by default. We are currently working on getting an installer released to re-add this support, and expect this to be released in the very near future. I'll update this thread when we release the installer.

  • I noticed this as well, and on a related note the Download and Install page references Nuget for installing.  I tried to use this approach but I got the following error message about not support .NET v4.5.  I think Nuget is a good platform for this and it would be great if it worked for Windows 8 Apps.
