Optimizing Word Macro RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

What are the ways to optimize the performance of a performance intensive Word Macro?

The macro that I am developing is highly performance intensive and hence at times enters into "NOT RESPONDING" state (but often comes back after a long time). I am looking for ways to optimize  it as far as possible.

    Thanks

  • If you are looking for an "optimization" button, it doesn't exist. You need to post the portion of the code where you believe the performance issue is occurring, then maybe someone can suggest a way to improve it.

Often performances issue involve how you loop thru collections (bookmarks, fields, etc) and even cells withing tables.

Again, without seeing it we are left to speculate.

  • I agree with Rich's observations. In addition, you should include information about the version of Word involved.
