    Currently, you need to create partitions manually.

    Sharding/Partition will be driven largely by the individual application's needs. How the database is split up is an architectural decision that will be driven by how you need to access the information. What works for one application will not necessarially work for the next. Its even possible that over time, your solution will need to adapt, and the way you partitioned the data will change.

    I think the idea of a tool is great. But its basically going to have to be an ETL tool that can handle a myrid of needs.
