What are these? "32-bit LOB client and other required DLLs." RRS feed

  • Question

  • What do the client DLLs mean? So if I am using Oracle adapter, is it oracle client I need to install? If so, do I need both 32 bit and 64 bit client?

    thank you.

  • Correct. This refers to the client library. Please see my response in this post where I have explicitly stated what needs to be installed for 32 bit and 64 bit installations: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/en-US/biztalkr2adapters/thread/f532143d-d1cf-4b2f-acd1-e87f8c07d303

    "

On a 32 bit installation, you need:

1 WCF LOB Adapter SDK 32 bit
    2 Adapter Pack 32 bit
    3 Oracle Client including ODP.NET 11.1.0.7 32 bit

On 64 bit installation, you need:

1 WCF LOB Adapter SDK 64 bit
    2 Adapter Pack 32 bit
    3 Adapter Pack 64 bit
    4 Oracle Client inluding ODP.NET 11.1.0.7 32 bit
    5 Oracle Client including ODP.NET 11.1.0.7 64 bit"

  • Manas,

So I uninstalled 32 bt SDK and installed 64 bit. (verified in the Program Files folder)

The adapter pack is installed , 32 bit and 64 bit. (verified incontrol panel -> installed programs)

Now I have a question about oracle client - I checked the assembly. This is what I see

    Oracle.DataAccess version 2.111.7.20 - 32 bit

    Oracle.DataAccess version 2.112.1.0 - 64 bit

So it looks like I have a newer version for 32 bit. Does that cause an issue? I am downloading the 11.1.0.7 client right now. I will install that also.

    thank you.

  • you have a newer version for 64 bit, right? (2.112.1.0)

This configuration is not officially supported by the adapter as it was released after the adapter pack was released. However, usually there are no breaking changes, and things should work as expected.

  • One setting which made my solution work is making the Biztalk server host run in 32-bit mode. That finally resolved my issue.
