How to deploy multiple office addins in a single installer RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have developed a solution which contains two office addins, one is for Outlook and the other is for OneNote. The Outlook project is a VSTO addin while the OneNote project is a COM visible class library (following http://www.malteahrens.com/#/blog/howto-onenote-dev/). Now I'm trying to deploy them in a single installer.

I have found some relevant articles, like http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff951700.aspx. According to this article, I have to publish the application first. But the problem is, as the OneNote project is a class library, I couldn't publish it.

Of course, I can create two setup projects. But is there a way to deploy both of them in a single MSI?

    Thank you for your help

    Ross

  • Hi Ross,

    Thandk you for posting.

I did some research about this problem, I think you can build the two set up projects and then use bat file to install them together. You may use Notepad.exe as the editor and write the following command lines in .bat file.

    Msiexec /i Setup1.msi
    Msiexec /i Setup2.msi

The MSI packages should be placed in the same folder as the .bat file.

    Hope this can help you.
