Table Adapter Update throws Multi-valued field exception, but table has no multivalue fields RRS feed

  • Question

  • The connection is to an Access db and the dataset has been built using the "data source configuration wizard" by selecting database\dataset\(saved connection string).  Then if I drop a table onto a form in designer to make a quick datagrid view and run the form, I get the error when updating\inserting\deleting a record using the bindingNavigator.  The thing is I can't find any "multi-value" fields, I've looked through the fields in Access and none have "Allow Multiple Values" enabled.  Is there a way to list what these "multi-value" fields are?  Thanks in advance.

    edit:

I went back to the Access DB and changed any\all lookup fields from combobox to text box.  I also deleted any "Attachment" type fields.  In VS I deleted the existing dataset and re-added datasource and made another quick form and dropped the table on the form in designer.  Now it works correctly without any exception thrown.  I thought the lookup only affected what control was shown by default for that field and creates appropriate table relations, and the value should just be a "Number" type.  Or could it have been the attachment fields, any thoughts?

If you do not find any field enabled for Allow Multiple Values in access, it shows there are no multiple -values fields.

Yes, you are right, the attachment field is actually multi-value filed, you can see that it can store multi attachments if you try to add an attachment field with 2 or more than attachments.

    Regards.

  • Strange the binding navigator is not to update. It is to scroll through the rows.

    Success
