    Question

  • Hi all,

    I have an application that I am attempting to package manually due to being a standalone application before Windows 10. I have been trying the following command line:

    • 'MakeAppx pack /v /d "C:/Win10Store/Windows10" /p MyApp.appx'

    But it throws the following:

    • MakeAppx : error: You must include a valid app package manifest file named AppxManifest.xml in the source.
    • Cleaning up output file "MyApp.appx".
    • MakeAppx : error: Package creation failed.
    • MakeAppx : error: 0x80080203 - The specified package format is not valid: The file is not a valid app package because it is missing a required footprint file.

    My directory structure is as follows:

    • Windows10/images
    • Windows10/My App Dir
    • Windows10/AppxManifest.appxmanifest

    My manifest file looks correct:

    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
    <Package xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/appx/2010/manifest">
      <Identity Name="MyAppUniqueID"
                Version="1.0.0.0"
                Publisher="CN=MyCompany Ltd, O=MyCompany Ltd, L=Street, S=Town, C=UK" />
      <Properties>
        <DisplayName>MyApp</DisplayName>
        <PublisherDisplayName>MyCompany Ltd</PublisherDisplayName>
        <Logo>images/icon.png</Logo>
      </Properties>
      <Prerequisites>
        <OSMinVersion>6.2.1</OSMinVersion>
        <OSMaxVersionTested>6.2.1</OSMaxVersionTested>
      </Prerequisites>
      <Resources>
        <Resource Language="en-gb" />
      </Resources>
      <Applications>
        <Application Id="MyApp.App" Executable="My App Dir\Binaries\Win32\Game.exe" EntryPoint="MyApp.App">
          <VisualElements DisplayName="My App Name" Description="Stuff here"
               Logo="images/icon.png" SmallLogo="images/small_icon.png"
               ForegroundText="light" BackgroundColor="#000000">
             <SplashScreen Image="images/splash.png" BackgroundColor="#000000"/>
          </VisualElements>
        </Application>
      </Applications>
    </Package>

    Anyone have any ideas?

    I'm puzzled.

    Cheers,

    Jon
