Is it possible to change visual states from the VS2013 designer?

    Question

  • Given the VSM related changes for 8.1 apps, how does one switch between custom states at design time? I hope I'm missing something obvious since I'd rather not have to switch to Blend for every ad hoc UI change I make.

  • You'll need to use Blend for visual editing of states.

  • Thanks for confirming that Rob. Whilst I didn't expect to have the full state and storyboard editing capabilities of Blend, I think it would be nice to preview different states in VS. Like viewing states in Blend but without the recording feature. The API changes in 8.1 seem to have got ahead of the tooling in this case, whereas Blend 2012 seemed ahead of the emaciated XAML capabilities for 8.0 Store apps and VS 2012 had finally caught up.
