"Extension INF files" question: If the extension INF file is modified, do I need to recertify the driver package? RRS feed

  • Question

  • We provide a Microsoft Dashboard signed/certified driver package for our devices. Our customers typically need to change certain parts of our INF file (typically the VID, PID, perhaps other strings, etc.) which negates the Microsoft signature on the driver package (I.e. a file in the package changed) and necessitates our customer resubmitting a DUA for a modified driver package with their modified INF.  It looks like Windows 10 introduced "Extenson INF files", might these be a way to handle what I describe without requiring our customers to re-submit the driver for re-certification?

    Thank you,
