Can one system run multiple versions of visual studio on a single machine? AS I Have 2010 now and want to install 2012 on a same machine so could it cause any serious dormant error(s) while opening or developing projects in different versions? Thanks for your post.
It is by design that VS2012 and VS2010 can co-exist.
For VS2012 and VS2010 project issue, you can refer to the following blog:

you are absolutely free to go with multiple version of visual studio.
All the versions of Visual studio can co-exist in an system without affecting each other.
