Is it possible to maintain the state of the workflow after migration RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi All,

We are planning for migration from SharePoint 2010 to SharePoint 2013, we have SharePoint custom workflow[sequential workflows] deployed and running in SharePoint 2010.

Is it possible to maintain the state of the workflows after migration from SP 2010 to 2013?

    Kindly suggest.

  • Hi Roopak,

Unfortunately, there are no SharePoint APIs that allow the preservation of the content of the workflow task and workflow history lists. The status is linked to the tasks and since these cannot be migrated, the status can't be preserved.

  • I don't think migrating the workflows will keep you in same state. all the workflows has to be republished again after the migration and the workflows are in progress has to stop before migration. If you need it in same state then you have to perform workflow migration in that case you will get all the workflows in same state like 2010.
