Req 1.4 Identify all non-hidden files in the application RRS feed

  • Question

  • One more question.

Req 1.4 says that every non-hidden file that the application creates outside its directory in the Program Files folder has an associated registered file type. Each new file type created has its own icon, action, and friendly description.

Could you clarify if  subfolders of %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\ are inside application's directory or not?

Should we hide files in this folder if %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\ folder itself is hidden?

  • Hello Alexy,

As the req 1.4 says, "Every non-hidden file (files that do not have the hidden file attribute set) that the application creates outside of the application folder (the main folder created by the application that is clearly associated with the application with no possibility for confusion on the part of the customer) must have an associated registered file type."

So, only the application folder in Program Files should be MAIN application folder, %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data should not be the one. So, in order to satisfy this requirement you need to have each non-hidden file has its own icon, action, and description.

    Hope it helps.

    Thanks.

  • Amitava,

The folder %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data is hidden itself. Should we  hide all files in this folder also?

  • There is no restriction on that. If you see other products, they have kept non-hidden including those of Microsoft.

    Thanks.

  • Sorry,

Should non-hidden file inside custom folder inside hidden folder %ALLUSERSPROFILE%\Application Data\ has an associated registered file type with his own icon, action, and friendly description?
