How to upgrade VSTO AddIn to new office version RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi all:

I made some Excel 2013 Add-Ins, but now I will upgrade the Office 2013 to Office 2016.

Does Visual Studio supply any feature to help me upgrade Excel 2013 Add-Ins to target Excel 2016?

    Thanks,

    Qi Dong

    Best regards,

  • Hi Riquel

Do you need to make changes to the add-in for Office 2016? Or are you just asking whether/how the 2013 Add-in can work as-is in 2016?

You should be able to install and load the add-in in Office 2016 without opening/building it in a newer version of Visual Studio. You'd only need to do that if you want to make changes specific for Office 2016. Or if you need to make changes and Office 2016 has replace Office 2013 on the developer machine...

  • Hi Qi Dong,

What version of Visual Studio you were developing with? As far as I know, Visual Studio 2015 provide the template for Office 2016 like figure below:

You can get more detail about running solutions in different versions of Microsoft Office from link below:

If you have any problem after deploy the add-in to Office 2016, please feel free to let us know.

Yes, we can build the Office solution for Office 2007, Office 2010, Office 2013 and Office 2016 with Visual Studio 2015.
