Hyper-V based VM's performance stats RRS feed

  • Question

  • why does azure migrate record perfomance stats for vmware based vm's but not for hyper-v based vm's in azure readiness ? or am i missing some configuration on the Azure Migrate Hyper-V appliance ?

  • The mentioned issue could be because Azure Migrate appliance is not able to collect performance data for the on-premises VMs. This can happen if:

    • The VMs are powered off for the duration for which you are creating the assessment (last one day/one week/one month) as the appliance cannot collect performance data for a VM, when it is powered off
    • For Hyper-V, please check if you have dynamic memory enabled on these VMs. There is a known issue currently due to which Azure Migrate appliance cannot collect memory utilization for VMs which do not have dynamic memory enabled.
    • Please check if the port requirements are met : https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/migrate/migrate-support-matrix-hyper-v#assessment-port-requirements

Please let us know in case if the issue still persists.

  • Performance data is collected by the appliance for Hyper-V as well as VMware. Refer to - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/migrate/migrate-appliance#collected-performance-data-hyper-v

If you're not finding the performance data for Hyper-V, could be a miss on configuration or delay in data replication on Azure. I suggest you verify all the steps listed in the following doc - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/migrate/tutorial-migrate-Hyper-V to ensure you haven't missed any configuration step. If problem persist I suggest posting the screenshot showing performance stats for VMware VMs and missing stats for Hyper-V.

  • Hi Sadiqh,

Thanks for getting back to me. I would send you some screen shots of what i am seeing but i am awaiting my account to be verified before it will let me post.

Basically i can see CPU, Memory, Disk and Networks performance stats when looking at the cost details of a vmware vm but when looking at a hyper-v vm all of the performance stats show as 0

As soon as i am verified i will upload some images.

    Thanks

    Chris
