Can I Delete Intellitrace ? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Can I delete Intellitrace file inC:\ProgramData\Microsoft Visual Studio\10.0\TraceDebugging\  ?

it's eating my hardisk until 21GB..

But how if I turn off the intellitrace feature? What will happened after it?

If it can't, how to limit capacity of Intellitrace?

My hardisk only 300GB, the C:\ is only 100GB, now the ballon always appears to notify low hardisk..

I'm using Ms Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate.

Thanks before and sorry for my English.

    Best Regards..

  • I believe you can safely delete them, they are simply existing traces that you could later load up in VS, but if you don't want/need them and/or have disabled the feature (which should prevent it from collecting further traces) then you should be able to delete them.

One way to 'check' is to copy them to another location temporarliy, delete them and then make VS doesn't do anything weird :)  If it doesn't you can delete the temporary copies you made.  I don't think it should do anything weird, but I am not on the debugger team.
