How can I set a field valuewhen users clicks the submit button? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I want to set a flag field value when users clicks the submit button for a new Infopath 2013 form.  When users clicks to edit this submitted form in the future, I want to check this flag field to see if this is an edit of an existing form previously submitted or is a new form.  Based on the flag value then I would like to disable the Submit button is this is a previously submitted form and force users to use only the Save button to update the form.

I didn't see ways to do this in the Rules for the Submit button.   Does anyone know how can I do this?  Or does it have to be done using C# custom code?  Or, maybe there is another easier way to detect this without using creating the flag field? Thank you.

  • Thank you.  I am now able to set 2 rules when the Submit button is clicked.  One is to submit the form data using data connection.  2nd is to set the flag field value.

question now is when the form is loaded, I need to check the flag field to see if this is a new form to be submitted or it's an form data that was submitted previously then I would like to disable the Submit button.  How can that be done?  Thank you.
