workflow click on task will open edit form of list item RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

I have an list with a workflow, starting by adding a new list items. The user (who add new list item) choose some participant users in the add-item-form, so this users get the permissions to edit the list item. The users get a new Task 'Edit that List Item', if they are choosen by the list item author. Is it possibile, if the participant users click on the 'Edit that List Item' Task, the editing form of the List Item will be openend?

Author add new List Item > participant users get permissions and a new Task > participant user click on task and editing form of item will be opened

Sorry for my bad english, i hope you understand my problem.

    Greets

  • Hi Thomas,

If you want to click the link “Edit that List Item” in your task email notification, then open the “edit item” form page directly, you can construct the “Edit that List Item” URL pointing to that item editing form page in your email body as the following format:
    http://yourServer:portNumber/siteName/ListName/EditForm.aspx?ID=[thatListItemID]

For more information you can see this article.

  • You want to open edit form for workflow item (item on which workflow was started - in that case automatically after item creation) by clicking link in tasks created by this worfklow, right?

If I understand right, then you can add to the task list new colum of "<label for="onetidTypeURL">Hyperlink or Picture"</label> type. Set its URL in workflow to WF item edit form URL. If you want to display link only in the list view (not on forms), then use content type and hide hyperlink column for forms.
