error "500 RENAME not understood" when using rename command on "After Get" in ftp receive location RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am using rename command on After Get property of ftp receive location to move the file to different directory on the ftp server after get is successful.

    using below command -

    rename : /Archive/:

    But getting error as "500 RENAME not understood".  I also tried to use RNFR and RNTO command,but that also didn't work.

    Did anybody face the same issue ?

  • I think your Syntax is wrong here it should be something like

     rename FileName NewFileName

    Parameters
    FileName   : Specifies the file that you want to rename.
    NewFileName   : Specifies the new file name.
    ? rename   : Displays help for the rename command.

    You can take reference from below MSDN article for this

    Changes the name of a file or a set of files.

    In meanwhile what you are trying to achieve with this .

    Thanks

  • I need to ftp get the file ,then move the file to different folder on FTP server.

    when I use rename command on "After Get" property , I don't know the name of the file. That's why I am using : so that It can take the current file name .

  • I dont think you will be able to set filename property without knowing file name in advance for FTP adapter .

    I would prefer to have an Orchestration for this which can change my file name to desired one before publishing to the ftp location .Something like below.

    msgOutput = msgInput;
    msgOutput(FILE.ReceivedFileName) = fileName;

    There are lot of articles already discussed this one .some of them i ma listing for you below

    rename-file-after-get-using-ftp-adapter

    How to get the sourcefilename in Biztalk FTP After Put Command

    Thanks
