Not able to sign-in to Visual studio 2019 community edition RRS feed

  • As Visual studio community version 2019 is free, So I installed it and at the time of installation I didn't sign-in. Now it is showing your 30 day trial period is over. Now I am trying to sign-in with microsoft account but it is throwing error page which displays:

    'we could not refresh the credentials for the account. The browser based authentication dialog failed to complete. Reason: The protocol is not known and no pluggable protocols have been entered that match.'

    Can someone please help me on this.

    Welcome to the MSDN forum.

    According to your issue, please follow theses steps:

    First of all, please delete all files in this path:

    >>C:\Users\xxx(your os account name)\AppData\Local\.IdentityService

     1. open VS and select the menu Help-->Seed Feedback-->Report a Problem

     2. open the link and then click on the login icon at the top right to sign in

     3. then go back to check whether you have signed in your account 

    Any feedback will be expected.

  • I have exact same problem and have been using this workaround for a month or so now. But my problem is that at work I need to use two or three accounts because of different projects. In such cases, I have to go through it all the way again on each switch. Earlier, when I would log in to Visual Studio and not Visual Studio Feedback, it allowed me to add multiple account credentials simultaneously. But with Visual Studio Feedback login that is not possible.

    Have you found any further solution on it, which logs us in onto VS? Or is it that at the moment the main VS login is just broken, and we should wait for an update that fixes this? :(

  • Hi Perry,

    I tried what you suggested and it still doesn't work for me. I don't know what to do. I've even tried reinstalling and even making a new Outlook account to log into.
