Unable to save config to file error message. Has anyone encountered this> RRS feed

  • Question

  • We have a windows .net 2.0 clickonce app that we have succesfully deployed in multiple locations with multiple users.  In one location the end users gets an error when the the second time they access or luanch the application.  The error is "failed to save settings: unable to save config to file".  The file they can not be written to is the user.config file.  If we manually delete the file the user can again access the application one time.  We have tried the normal IE security settings.  Has anyone ever seen this?

  •  If this error is encountered during deployment share creation then move user.config file to some other place and create new deployment share. This is because of permission issue, make sure user.config file has write permission. hope it will solve the problem.

    c:\users\administrator\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Microsoft Deployment Toolkit\user.config

if anything unacceptable happens after removing  user.config file then restore previous user.config file at the right place.
