  • When you set the Site lock as: Adding content prevented, Still users will be able to update the existing site content! But they will not be able to create any new content including new sites. Setting it to "Read-only" instead of "Adding content prevented" is more relevant.

Thanks for reply. As I mentioned earlier I am looking for solution in SharePoint 2003 and in SP2003 there is no "Read Only" option. SP2003 only have following options

    • Not locked to unlock the site collection and make it available to users.
    • Adding content prevented to prevent users from adding new content to the site collection. Updates and deletions are still allowed.
    • No access to prevent users from accessing the site collection and its content. Users who attempt to access the site receive an error

I tested Adding content prvented, but user can still able to create.

How can I remove Site Owner access?

Any other options to prevent user to allow site creation.

    Regards

  • Hi,

Then just  Add the Users to the Visitors Group and not anywhere else and those choices will not be available to them... Visitors can only Read..

If necessary to remove the current site owners just Modify the Site Ownership to another Account...
