About the dwQualityFlags in NUI_SKELETON_DATA RRS feed

  • Question

  • I saw that there is a member dwQualityFlags in the NUI_SKELETON_DATA which can be used to indicate the quality of the skeleton data. But it's value is something like NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_RIGHT. Does anyone know how to use this data to indicate the quality of the estimated pose positions? Or is there any way to do this? Thanks.

  • The NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_RIGHT flag indicates that the right part of the player is not visible on the screen.

The result is that the joints on the right side of the camera (left side of the player) will most likely be all inferred and you will not have precise location of the joints.

This can be used to provide feedback to the user to move to the center of the visible area:
If he/she is clipped right of the camera, then he/she should move towards the left of the camera (to his right).

    For your reference:

Flags that indicate which side of a skeleton is cut off in the camera's field of view
    Name Description
NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_RIGHT Part of the player's body is out of frame to the camera's right.
NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_LEFT Part of the player's body is out of frame to the camera's left.
NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_TOP Part of the player's body is out of frame above the camera's field of view.
NUI_SKELETON_QUALITY_CLIPPED_BOTTOM Part of the player's body is out of frame below the camera's field of view.

    - hope this helps - Mauro.
