Windows RT (ARM system) for HCK? RRS feed

Answers

  • Hello,

In order to obtain a certification for Windows RT, you must test device using Windows RT.  Now that Windows 8 and Windows RT have reached general availability, it is now possible to purchase these systems with Windows RT pre-installed.  At this time we are only certifying devices that use the inbox class driver.  The process to certify your USB storage device is the same as it is on Windows 8 x86/x64.

    Thanks,

    Paul

  • Is a Windows Surface tablet suitable as a Windows RT WHCK client?

  • Hi:

I can't find the Windows Surface from the "Windows 8 Client ARM" compatibility list. It's strange?

  • It would be nice with an official Microsoft statement that the Microsoft Surface tablet running Windows RT is a suitable WHCK client for Windows RT certification.

For example, the Surface tablet does not have USB 3.0 and NFC - is that an issue?

  • For your information I have been running WHCK tests against a USB headset on a Windows Surface RT tablet. The tablet is very unstable when running WHCK tests. It frequently freezes and dies with a blue screen of death. I can not recommend using a Surface RT tablet for WHCK testing.
