Application connection coming from AWS to our local SQL Server? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello,

Our Application team is considering moving their apps to AWS cloud and were wondering would it be just for our Network team to open up a white-list IP address firewall and that all connections & traffic going in & out of local SQL Server 2008 are encrypted by default?

Or if not what would be needed to ensure all connections & traffic going in & out of local SQL Server 2008 get encrypted where if not SQL Server would reject the app's connections?

    Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Archana,

Which type of encryption did you use? If you have only enabled the firewall, you can add the IP address of AWS server to the white-list of the server which hosts SQL Server.

If you have enabled SSL, you will need to install the certificate exported from SQL Server on the AWS server.

    Best Regards,

    Teige
