Help with Report Viewer RRS feed

  • Question

  • I am designing a page that has

    A report viewer control
The report rdlc has 4 charts embedded

The page has a series of list boxes and drop downs which display aspects that the user may want to include or exclude from either of the 4 charts.  This will provide the user flexibility for creating the chart ouput they want to see.

    Questions:
Can each chart have it's own data source
Can I manipulate these data sources at run time
Either using Postback or AJAX style updating

If you can point me to some snippets or aticles that would be perfect

  • Hi Jerry,

Can each chart have it's own data source - Yes.

Can I manipulate these data sources at run time - Yes. For a server based report, you can provide the data source as an expression in the report RDL. For a local mode RDLC report, you have programmatic access over the data source.

I do not have a code snippet for you, but MSDN is typically a decent resource. This article may help you with the local mode RDLC report.
