Get Todays date and Update daily RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Unfortunately, as you know, SharePoint will only take the [Today] date when an item is added or updated. I've created color coding for a custom project task list but to fully automate I must use a custom [Today] field.

I need to update a [Today] column on a daily basis so it can reflect Today's actual date. Is this possible to do on the Client Side? If not, does anyone have a best solution. Thanks in advance!

  • Hi Adam,

I’m not sure how you implement the color coding, anyway, in both C# and JavaScript, there are methods can get the current date:

    In C#:

    http://www.dotnetperls.com/datetime-now

    In JavaScript:

    http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1531093/how-to-get-current-date-in-javascript

Thus, my suggestion is that, you can append the method to get the current date in the logic of the “color coding” without using an extra “Today” column.

    Best regards,

    Patrick

  • Adam, why do you need today date in list column for color coding?
