off the shelf tools for insert/update/delete to sql tables

  • Hi. I read articles like this one when looking for guidance on setting up tools for simple sql table maintence. .  But really wish I can find a one size fits all (abstract) approach to allowing a user to select a table and do simple maintenance to it.  Without custom code for each table.  Does something like that exist?  I may need an option now and then for specific biz rules as they apply to a specific table but overall I just want a one size fits all tool that allows the user to pick which table he wants to update, presents the appropriate grid and allows user friendly updates to happen.

  • Please post questions related to ASP.NET applications in the ASP.NET forums.

You can build an SSMS-like application by using a combination of SMO (for DDL) and ADO.NET DataSet (for DML). You really don't need any other tools.
