Can't Install .NET Framework RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Windows XP Professional with SP3.

I have complete uninstalled all my.NET Framework programs using the clean up tool.

I have tried to download every version of .net framework but nothing installs successfully.

The closest I got I ended up getting an error that the RGB rast wasnt installed so I tried to install it manually but it needs .NET FRAMEWORK to install!

    Please help.

  • Unfortunately, the cleanup tool you used has been identified by the Microsoft .NET Framework team as potentially dangerous to system integrity, and recommended for use only as a last resort.

In your case, the error message you got when trying to run the .NET 3.5 cumulative installer ("not a valid win32 application"), indicates Windows Installer/Windows Update corruption in your Windows XP OS.

  • What cleanup tool did you use (link, please)?

So we can see what is going on, please do the following:

Download this cumulative installer for .NET Framework 2.0/3.0/3.5:

    http://download.microsoft.com/download/2/0/e/20e90413-712f-438c-988e-fdaa79a8ac3d/dotnetfx35.exe

Before running the installer, clear your %temp% directory and completely disable all AV and anti-malware software.

Run the installer from an account with FULL administrative rights.

If it fails, provide complete logs as follows:

Please collect your install logs with this:

    http://aka.ms/vscollect

After you run Collect.exe, you'll find vslogs.cab in your %temp% directory. Please upload vslogs.cab to a public site, like SkyDrive, and post the link here.

  • It said that the dotnetfx35.exe file is not a valid win32 application.

Also, this is where I got the cleanup tool from...
