Issues with downloading CDN files from certain locations. RRS feed

  • Our company has files we provide for our customers world wide.  They are between 4-100MB each.  These files are published as CDN files.  Certain customers have been having issues downloading these files.  Our application reads these via http.  The application appears to download some of the file (like 12%) and at some point they recieve a SocketException (see below).  The customers have also tried downloading these directly with Chrome or I.E. and the file will also fail to download in the browers (getting errors like "Interuped").

    So far most US clients seem OK.  But this paticular issue was experienced by a customer in Switzerland.  The customer apparantly tried the file download inside and outside their firewall and experienced the same failure.

    Any idea on things we can try?  Or how to trouble shoot the issue?

  • Hello.

    It seems like a network connectivity issue. Something like low bandwidth, low time-our or something like this. It's difficult to say what's exactly wrong without access to customers who have such a problems. Can you troubleshoot directly, for example, computer of customer who have such a problem?

  • We don't have direct access to the customer's machine.  But they do have IT staff on hand that were willing to work with us.  The customer's IT was also testing using wget to get the CDN file and having errors downloading the files.  I'm trying to get the log to see what issues this utility reported.
